On May 7th the most famous faces made their way to the Metropolitan Museum of Art to attend the Met Gala. This highly anticipated event is known for it’s avant garde fashion worn by actors, artists, and celebrities around the world. This year’s theme was entitled Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination to give a nod to the latest exhibit featured at the museum.
The leading luxury designers such as Versace, Dolce & Gabbana, and Balmain have been working extensively to dress their clients in lavish gowns that fit like a glove for the gala. It was evident from the beginning that the wardrobes would not disappoint. As Madonna stepped out of her ride in a jet black cross covered gown and gold encrusted headdress, we new the party had just begun. The ongoing theme of ornate patterns and tapestry followed throughout the night as the A-listers stepped onto the red carpet.
Before the commence of the festivities, there was speculation of how the attendees would respond to the theme. It held value to a specific religious belief and compared fashion to significant artifacts on the same platform. Yet the guest, coming from a variety of races and religions, arrived with all the respect for the event. The Met Gala once again prevailed without a hitch, thanks to the amazing Anna Wintour who has been chairman of the Met Gala since 1995.
In case you missed the red carpet coverage, here are a some of the most dazzling outfits.
